Announcement: Shinetsu Cryo-Pharma Archive Center is open
We are pleased to announce that the pharmaceutical storage facility “Shinetsu Cryo-Pharma Archive Center,” which had been under construction in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, has opened in December. The Shinetsu Cryo-Pharma Archive Center is scheduled to begin operations in February 2025 as a dedicated facility specializing in support for the pharmaceutical and medical industries.
The Shinetsu Cryo-Pharma Archive Center consists of two buildings: a “Pharmaceutical & API Storage Building,” which stores pharmaceutical raw materials that are classified as hazardous substances under the Fire Service Act, and a “Specimen Storage Building,” which stores samples removed from humans, such as cells and clinical specimens. The facility is designed to provide comprehensive support for the development of the pharmaceutical and medical industries and is unprecedented in Japan.
The Shinetsu Cryo-Pharma Archive Center is located within Kashiwazaki Frontier Park, a 10-minute drive from the Kashiwazaki Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. Nearby facilities include Niigata Institute of Technology, Niigata Sangyo University, the Kashiwazaki Monozukuri Revitalization Center, and Kashiwazaki Yumenomori Park, making the site a regional hub for industry–academia collaboration.
In addition, travel to the Kanto region via the Kan-Etsu Expressway can be made within four hours one-way, allowing round trips to/from the Kanto area without being affected by the truck driver working-hours limits implemented in fiscal 2024. Using the Hokuriku Expressway, the three Hokuriku prefectures and the Kansai region can also be reached within a four-hour one-way drive.
